  • As a Lead Engineer in Thermal Management Systems, you work individually and in teams to contribute to the design and validation of energy / thermal management systems;
  • the design and development of thermal management components; Multiphysics computational modeling of components and systems;

design and analysis of systems and systems-of-systems; and the design and development of additive manufactured thermal components.

Job Description

At GE Aerospace Research, we See, Move, and Create the future of flight and power systems. The Thermal Management & Systems team develops innovative solutions to move, spread, and store thermal energy for our customers and GE products.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Apply your knowledge in energy / thermal management systems to develop innovative solutions to control thermal loads in complex systems such as aerospace systems, renewable energy applications, and medical devices.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team of GE product engineers, GE Research team members, and external partners to invent and mature the next generation of energy / thermal management technology.
  • Utilize your experience in modeling, simulation, and / or experimentation to characterize and / or validate the novel energy / thermal management components and systems.
  • Contribute to the development and writing of internal and external proposals
  • Establish and grow an external network of collaborators in academia, government, and industry.
  • Patent your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer reviewed journals.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline OR Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline with 5 years industrial experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer applied to thermal management problems
  • Experience in thermal / energy management systems and / or component development
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Due to the nature of the work done at GE Global Research, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance;

prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship

Desired Characteristics

  • 3+ years of work experience in an industrial or laboratory setting
  • In-depth knowledge of system modeling and / or systems-of-systems modeling
  • Experience developing engineering models in languages such as EES, Matlab, Python, Fortran, etc
  • Familiarity with developing system models in Matlab Simulink
  • Familiarity with the application of computational fluid mechanics tools such as Fluent, CFX, etc
  • Knowledge of model verification and validation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence

The base pay range for this position is $90,000 - $175,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan.
