Dental Hygienist

Working in an integrated team model, the full-time Dental Hygienist is responsible for performing all tasks as a dental hygienist in a preventative and maintenance dental program.

Schedule is typically Monday - Friday between 8am and 5pm. Requirements : Degree from an accredited school of dental hygiene and license from state of Michigan to practice dental hygiene required.

One year experience working in a dental practice preferredBasic Life Support / CPR training according to requirements of license and / or certification.

Ability to perform routine dental laboratory and dental patient care tasks.Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, public and patients.

Tact and similar qualities necessary in meeting and dealing effectively with others, in person and on the telephone.Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

Ability to identify and maintain agency and client confidential information.Ability to work with patients and staff of other cultures.

Responsibilities : Clean and polish teeth, remove calculus deposits, and stains from teeth and beneath gums, applies topical fluoride treatmentsChart existing conditions in the mouth including possible areas of dental decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentistApply pit and fissure sealants as approved by dentistExpose and develop x-ray film for use by dentistEducate patients in proper oral hygiene techniques for plaque removalRecord information in charts and initiate on going patient recall system for maintenance of teethAssist dentist as directed.
