Salary :

Landrum & Shouse LLP is seeking an Associate Attorney to work in our tort, trial, insurance, and business litigation practice groups in our Lexington, Kentucky office.

The ideal candidate will be an integral part of our dedicated legal team. The candidate will play a key role in handling a variety of legal matters, providing expert advice and representing clients in legal proceedings.

This person must be highly motivated, work well in a fast-paced environment, and be experienced in civil litigation.

Responsibilities :

Legal Research & Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategy and client advice and advocacy.
  • Analyze and interpret laws, rulings and regulations relevant to each case.
  • Stay current on legal developments and precedents.

Case Management

  • Manage litigation caseload, including drafting pleadings, motions and other legal documents.
  • Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, opposing counsel and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Preparation and attendance for depositions, mediations, hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiate agreements and contracts and settle claims suitable to clients.

Client Consultation

  • Provide legal counsel to clients, explaining complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their goals and develop effective legal strategies.

Document Preparation

  • Draft, review and modify claims, motions, discovery responses, demand letters, pleadings, contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
  • Review and edit legal documents drafted by support staff.

Collaboration

  • Build client relationships and provide an excellent customer experience.
  • Collaborate with and support senior attorneys and partners on complex cases.
  • Mentor and guide junior associates and legal support staff.

Qualifications :

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a fully accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Kentucky and in good standing; out of state candidates who are either willing to sit for the Kentucky bar exam or eligible for admission in Kentucky will be considered.
  • 2+ years litigation experience; experience in civil litigation is preferred.
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to commute / relocate to Lexington, KY 40507; in-person job location.
  • Reliable transportation for court proceedings, mediations, depositions, and meetings.
