Must be a coffee drinker with a love for great coffee and be willing to taste espresso while going through training. We are committed to the training and development of our people and expect the same level of commitment from our employees.
This is NOT a seasonal or short term position, we are looking for someone willing to commit to a minimum of a year with Alpha, and as a salaried employee who is part of the management team, you'll be expected to work a minimum of 40-45 hours per week but will occasionally need to put in extra hours.
To be clear, we work with you to ensure you have a work-life balance and regularly take time off to recharge, and you will normally have 2 days off in a row with one of them being a weekend day.
Pay is $40,000 base with supplemental tip and bonus pay that increases your overall annual pay to between $50,000 and $60,000 based on performance.
Base pay is paid during training with incentives as you progress through training.
We have an ever growing list of employee benefits as well. You will receive a cell phone reimbursement and fuel reimbursement each pay period (this adds up to approximately $2600 annually in reimbursements).
After the 3 month probationary period, you will be eligible for a supplement to offset self paid healthcare and team members who have been with us more than a year, are eligible for a matching 401K.
You will receive 3 weeks of paid vacation annually and 6 paid holidays (note : you may have to work some holidays but can take comp days to offset).

ALPHA COFFEE GENERAL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Cultivate Culture
- Engage with customers
- Ensure focus of customer first and always (remembering names, orders, engaging in regular conversations)
- Lead by example
- Keep Alpha vibe positive
- Hold regular one-on-one meetings with team members
- Share culture stories with team on sling, during shift exchange, pre-shift
- Look for potential improvements to the shop and operations
- Promote R.O.E. and Mission Statement through management of the team
- Develop quarterly goals and choose a R.O.E. of the month
Follow Chain of Command
- Communicate shop and employee needs up
- Communicate Alpha needs and priorities down
- Establish and encourage feedback and suggestions
- Carryout consistent AARs
- Own and support management decisions even when unpopular or difficult
Create and Uphold SOPs
- Know and understand all Alpha SOPs
- Suggest edits and additions to shop SOP binder to Director of Operations as necessary (dailys, weeklys, monthlys)
- Design logs and checklists to ensure procedures are being done in appropriate time
- Keep shop maintenance SOPs up to date
- Ensure shop cleanliness (interior and exterior)
Support Marketing and Promote Growth of Revenues and Profits of your Store
- Respond to reviews and support emails
- Look for content opportunities for social media
- Engage with customers
- Suggest ways to increase sales, grow customer base, and increase profitability
- Be aware of and communicate up the chain opportunities for possible brand-building events, sponsorships, activites
Inventory Management and Ordering of Shop Goods and Equipment
- Order Costco
- Order USFoods
- Order from local bakers
- Order coffee, syrups, etc
- Communicate supply and equipment needs or issues to Director of Operations
- Establish pars and constantly adjust to minimize waste
- Ensure upselling of items
- Ensure recipes are followed to create standardization and minimize waste
- Ensure inventory counts are done to schedule
- Manage the receiving and putting away of deliveries in a timely and consistent manner
Attend and Plan Meetings
- Weekly meeting with Owner and Director of Operations
- Quarterly Shift Lead Meetings
- Quarterly Team Meetings
- Create a weekly sales report to track profitability, labor needs, waste, ect.
Organize and Direct Baristas and Shift Leads
- Create the weekly schedule 2 weeks in advance
- Manage staffing to keep labor costs as low as possible to maximize team tips and company profitability while ensuring an outstanding customer experience
- Submit payroll information including tip pool to human resources
- Manage cash flow in shops (deposits, change, distribute tips)
- Upload invoices to XtraChef as received
- Work various shifts as a barista to see first-hand issues and areas for improvement
- Mentor Shift Leads to ensure standards are withheld when GM is not present
- Hold team accountable
- Coffee experience and management experience is a prerequisite. But you will complete our extensive Barista and Shift Lead training program regardless of experience.
- Timeliness and dependability, as well as good communication skills are critical.
- Dress code for work includes no facial piercings (nose piercings OK), no gauges. Tattoos are allowed but should not be distracting.
