Entry Level Directed Energy Engineer
- Location : Dayton, Ohio
- Security Clearance : Active Clearance or Eligible to Obtain - U.S. citizenship required
- Salary : $75,000 - $90,000 Depending on Experience and Education
- Travel : 5%

Position Summary
SURVICE Engineering is currently seeking an Entry Level Directed Energy Engineer to support several DoD programs. The successful candidate will be working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team to solve challenging problems for the defense community, supporting multiple customers including the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and other DoD customers.
The primary focus of this work will involve laser directed energy systems, but High-Power Microwave (HPM) may be involved as well.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting directed energy research, development, test and evaluation by developing test plans, conducting laboratory or on-range testing, and conducting post-test analysis.
- Conducting directed energy analysis in conjunction with DoD partners to evaluate and characterize relevant threats to aerial and other military systems.
- Performing directed energy modeling and simulation studies at various levels of fidelity to include engineering-level analysis, operational analysis, and mission- / campaign-level analysis.
- Translating engineering-level survivability outputs into inputs to support mission, campaign, and analytical wargaming.
Minimum Qualifications of Entry Level Directed Energy Engineer
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical field of study including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM major and 0-3 years of relevant experience.
Qualified candidates in their final year of an accredited STEM Bachelor's program will be considered. Transitioning military with prior experience are encouraged to apply.
Candidates are not required or expected to possess all qualifications; if you possess some of the desired qualifications, you are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Experience with experimental research, data analysis, design, or related activities
- Experience with using and interpreting results from established numerical modeling tools
- Experience or interest in military aircraft, weapon systems, operations, and procedures.
Desired Experience
- Practical knowledge of DoD aircraft, weapon systems, operations, or acquisition.
- Practical knowledge or experience with modeling and simulation environments.
- Strong analytical, inference, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with interpreting and analyzing intelligence analysis or products.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written analyses of technical subjects.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in small, dynamic teams to deliver products exceeding customer expectations.
