Job Summary
As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will provide expertise in the area of field support of NAS (National Airspace System) systems, maintenance, and operations.
You will interface with other specialists in hardware, software, logistics, testing, and system and database administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd level engineering support for the NextGen Weather Processor (NWP) and possibly other weather systems
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for hardware, software or other technical issues
- Identify and document defects, bugs and inconsistencies, technical assistance, and system maintenance ins a ticketing system / database
- Execute technical procedures related to installation, restoration, and system maintenance
- Support system development / testing / integration / deployment activities for NWP
- Review and comment on system engineering, requirement, and testing documents
- Attend design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and any other meetings as requested to support the program and the team
- Provide on-site support and be willing to travel
- Perform routine maintenance tasks in a lab or operational environment
- May be tasked to support other systems within AJW-171
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required and ten (15) years of related experience including at least five (5) years of NAS experience OR
- Associates degree and eight (13) years of related work experience, including NAS experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six (11) years of related work experience, including NAS experience
Technical Proficiencies
- Required
- Experience in documenting and tracking issues within ticketing systems / databases
- Possess a technical understanding of systems, databases, networking, computing environments, containerization (Kubernetes) and hardware
- Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of Linux and various scripting languages
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Diplomacy when interacting with internal / external customers and stakeholders
- Preferred
- Flexibility to work in different environments
- Ability to identify time sensitive issues, resolutions, and possible escalation in high pressure situations
- Interprets and analyzes complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams
- Knowledge of Weather Products
