Commercial Solutions, Senior Business Director

We have an immediate opportunity for a Commercial Business Leader.

Position Overview :

The Senior Business Director in Commercial Solutions is a pivotal leadership role overseeing client programs and shaping the strategic direction of commercial initiatives.

This role manages second-line leaders to ensure alignment with client objectives and fosters a strong, collaborative client partnership to ensure exceptional delivery and optimal sales performance.

Additionally, the Senior Business Director supports the Business Development team in securing new opportunities and expanding or renewing existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement commercial strategies that align with both the client’s goals and the company’s objectives.

Ensure that all initiatives are designed to meet annual budget goals and drive growth.

  • Client Partnership : Collaborate with the client to define and execute the strategic vision, ensuring that all activities are tailored to their needs and objectives.
  • Program Oversight : Strategically oversee and drive the performance metrics and activities. Continuously evaluate progress and adjust strategic initiatives as necessary to ensure alignment with long-term goals and overall success.
  • Team Leadership : Provide oversight and direction for commercial leadership sales teams. Drives performance by motivating and guiding leaders to to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Business Growth & Development : Drive program growth and expansion within existing programs and work with Business Development team to develop effective proposals and pricing strategies to win new business
  • Financial Oversight : Develop profit for the company and provide financial and revenue support to programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with key internal stakeholders, including Finance, Compliance, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Operations, Technology, and the Senior Leadership team, to ensure cohesive execution of strategies.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years in senior leadership roles with substantial experience in commercial solutions, pharmaceutical sales leadership, business development, or related fields.
  • Experience in working with executive leadership and driving strategic initiatives is required. Managing CSO client programs a plus
  • Second line pharmaceutical leadership and product launch experience required
  • Proven track record in developing and executing high-level strategies that drive business growth, secure new opportunities, and expand existing accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, ensuring alignment with their strategic objectives.
  • Strong ability to partner with multiple stakeholders and well-rounded background working with multiple divisions within the pharmaceutical organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to create and deliver professional and impactful presentations
  • Successful track record recruiting, hiring, managing, building high performing teams for both individual and management roles
  • Experience developing business plans and delivering to customers, senior leadership, and direct reports
  • Willingness to travel to work related meetings and functions (including overnight and / or weekend).
  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint and digital meeting platforms including Teams, Zoom etc.
  • Residence near major airport living in Eastern or Central time zone preferred
  • A valid driver's license and safe driving record.

  • In-depth understanding of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape relevant to the commercial solutions sector.
  • Full understanding of industry regulations and compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and expand relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong process facilitation problem solving and analytical thinking abilities to make sound business decisions on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical / medical terminology and to maintain the required technical expertise
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizing / planning skills / disciplined, attention to detail
  • Excellent Judgment / Decision Making skills
  • Ability to identify critical activities and tasks and adjust priorities to meet organizational goals and objectives.
