Raytheon Advanced Products and Solutions has a great opportunity for a Quality Engineer (QE) within our Raytheon Electronic Warfare Systems (EWS) division based in Goleta, CA.
EWS strives to be the most admired firm in the industry for discriminating protection and countermeasure systems.
The effective candidate will provide technical and strategic support of our products, high-end defense, and commercial products.
To effectively fulfill the required functions of this position, the candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
They ensure that the quality of RTX suppliers, products and processes are compliant with internal and regulatory standards and are continuously improving.
This is a key role ensuring mission assurance of our mission critical products to our customer.
The QE must be able to work within a cross-function, in which there is close interaction and collaboration with Program Managers, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations and the Quality team.
The QE will work on cross-functional program teams in all phases of the program lifecycle, from program capture (proposals) to program closure.
What You Will Do
- Follows quality processes to apply, modify, and maintain quality evaluation, control systems and protocols.
- Regularly participate in manufacturing and operations reviews, and supplier technical reviews.
- Act as liaison by providing interpretation, communicating, and educating of quality requirements, policies, or procedures to the functional program representatives.
- Perform quality reviews and approval of drawings and change requests.
- Quality review and sign-off of manufacturing travelers and generation of standard inspection protocols.
- Determine and participate in quality receiving, in-process, final and sell-off inspections.
- Development of inspection plans including internal FAI’s.
- Conduct supplier visits, source inspections, and First Article Inspection (FAI) Reviews per AS9102.
- Review and provide quality support and updates on purchase orders including Statement of Work, quality notes, revisions, and other items as applicable.
- Participate in defect review and Material Review Board, Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs), working with cross-functional teams to disposition and root-cause investigation, corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in program document reviews and verifications.
- Perform Quality Management System (QMS) auditing to quality standards.
- Obtain and maintain additional program access as required.
Qualification You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant Quality experience.
- Working experience with J-Std-001 and IPC-A-610.
- Working experience with First Article Inspections per AS9102.
- Working experience performing quality inspections.
- Working experience with Nonconforming Material.
- Working Experience with drawings / specs and GD&T.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.
S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Working and Auditing Experience of Quality Management Systems per AS9100 : IS0 9001.
- Experience leading internal quality audits.
- Experience with factory systems (e.g., PRISM, SAP, and Windchill).
- Knowledge working Corrective Action Systems and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified.
- Six Sigma or CORE Raytheon Certification.
- Knowledge in the use of Six-Sigma resources i.e., Pareto Chart, 5-WHYs.
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work alone and in a team environment, including customers and government representatives.

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
