Bargaining Unit : Local 856 - General Services & Maintenance Unit
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is offering an excellent opportunity to fill two vacancies for the position of Temporary Recycle Center Attendant I.
This position is 40 hours / week, Monday through Thursday, 6 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., and does NOT include benefits.

Public Works maintains 660 miles of roads and 150 miles of streams; channels and other drainage facilities as well as maintains 93 county buildings.
Under supervision, Recycle Center Attendants perform countywide recycling functions, participate on recycling routes throughout the County;
performs a variety of manual activities in support of the Recycle Center, and performs other related duties as required.

What you will typically be responsible for :
- Collecting and processing recycled material
- Driving County vehicles to multiple buildings in various cities throughout the County on a daily basis
- Preparing, maintaining, and submitting necessary records pertaining to recycle services
- Fulfilling multiple work orders which may involve safely moving, pushing, or lifting heavy objects, furniture or equipment
- Working collectively with a diverse work group from various backgrounds
- Following instructions and effectively communicating with your lead and supervisor

Desirable Qualifications
- A proven track record of working independently with minimal supervision
- Customer service experience
- Experience using a fork lift
- Experience in an industrial recycling / surplus setting
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be :
Licenses Required : Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.
Education : Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or high school proficiency certificate.
Experience : One (1) year of full-time, or its equivalent experience performing manual labor.
