Job Summary : Under limited supervision, uses intermediate skills obtained through experience and training to deliver engaging and interactive lessons in digital literacy skills needed to succeed in society and the workplace.

Using demonstrated effective techniques to design and develop interactive lessons that encourages learning and development of computer / digital literacy skills.

Receives general guidance and direction to perform a variety of non-routine tasks with limited decision-making responsibility.

Some judgment is required to adapt program content and respond to participant inquiries. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers new or unusual issues to a higher level.

Regular contact with program director, participants and other youth and education program team members is required to design, develop, and deliver course content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Utilizing a variety of instructional delivery methods; design and develop lessons for adult learners focusing on basic computer and mobile device skills, including website, internet, email, social media, privacy and internet safety.
  • Teach computer literacy and mobile device skills, in a manner that builds student skill level and confidence.
  • Meet with students to review progress and evaluate needs for additional supports. Recommend individualized curricular needs for students.
  • Identifies, builds, and maintains active collaborations and partnerships with organizations with an interest in improving adult services and digital literacy and access in the surrounding area.
  • Provide information and referrals for students regarding social, health, legal, and educational resources and opportunities available in the area.
  • Assist case manager / office administration with students follow up.
  • Meet with Program Manager to provide updates on student and program progress and presents program needs.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of records (daily).
  • Maintain records of class attendance and student participation.
  • Ensure assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with LAHC and funding source standards.
  • Attends assigned meetings as required.
  • Remains current in educational designs, methods, and techniques.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge of :

Knowledge of various computer programs including basic to advanced software skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite

Skill in :

  • Instructional design and lesson plan preparation.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office and Teams, Adobe Acrobat

Ability to :

  • Present and speak in front of a large audience.
  • Work with a diverse population.
  • Design, develop and deliver program content in a manner that engages and develops confidence in the student population.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, fostering trust and confidence in the program.
  • Partner with other members of the department as well as other functional areas of the organization to accomplish objectives.
  • Capture client attention and influence, motivate and persuade to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Cultural competency is a must.
  • Solid organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverables and expectations.
  • Bilingual in Arabic preferred

Educational / Previous Experience Requirements :

  • Minimum Degree Required : Associate’s degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Required Disciplines : business, education or a related field
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a training related role (digital literacy preferred) or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and / or training approved by Human Resources

Working Conditions :

Hours : Normal business hours. Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including some evening and weekends.

Travel Required : Local travel only
