Overview :
As an Optical Laboratory Specialist, you'll gain the specialized training needed to make and repair the eyewear that is provided to Soldiers in the Army.
You'll use your knowledge of optics and ocular health to sort and forward prescriptions, prepare and make prescription lenses, inspect them for accuracy, assemble frames, and perform repairs and maintenance on optical tools and machines.
Required Certification(s) :
Be a graduate of a State-recognized 1 year course in opticianry or be licensed as an optician; course transcripts and a copy of the opticians’ license is required.
Requirements to apply :
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien.
- Healthy and in good physical condition.
- In good moral standing.
- Must have a H.S. diploma, G.E.D or 15 college credits.
Sign-on bonus for this career is roughly $35,000.
