Minimum 1+ years visually impaired experience required.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct virtual assessments to evaluate students' functional vision, educational needs, and learning preferences, utilizing a variety of assessment tools and techniques.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) or individualized family service plans (IFSPs) for students with visual impairments, incorporating acmodations, modifications, and specialized instruction to support academic and functional skill development.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in the areas of braille literacy, orientation and mobility, adaptive technology, daily living skills, and pensatory skills.
- Monitor student progress, collect data on skill acquisition, and adjust instructional strategies and interventions as needed to promote student learning and independence.
- Participate in virtual IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities to collaborate with stakeholders and ensure pliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairments or eligibility for certification in Kentucky.
- Previous experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, preferably in remote or virtual learning environments.
- Familiarity with braille literacy, assistive technology, orientation and mobility techniques, and other specialized instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
- Proficiency in using virtual learning platforms, tele practice software, and technology tools for remote service delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and other professionals.
- mitment to cultural petence, equity, and inclusion in serving students from diverse backgrounds and munities.
- Clearances and background checks required by school districts or employers.
