Description of Service Opportunity :
Facilitators will :
Create and foster relationships with students to help identify equitable needs and ensure each student is making progress through modular learning.
Facilitate a WEEKLY hour-long student driven discussions and activities to foster the use of academic and mathematical discourse.
This will be done in an Upper School classroom setting and remotely via Google Meet.
During this time students will engage in mathematical conversations and work through practice problems or Desmos Activities.
Facilitate and check-in with each student on their progress through the program.
Maintain open communication with students as they progress through the modules.
Facilitators will need access to their own device.
Host 1 hour Virtual or In Person Drop-in Office Hours : Optional for students, mandatory for staff.
Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement for students throughout modules
Manage a Google Classroom for your students :
Review student thinking and overall student comprehension to provide specific feedback.
Desmos Activities will collect student’s thinking and understanding, as well as provide the delivery of instruction to students.
Practice Problems will be auto graded and give a sense of overall comprehension.
End of Module Check-ins will be auto graded and any glaring misconceptions will need to be addressed.
Compensation :
Facilitators will be asked to attend a 2 hour Pre-program onboarding meeting and will be compensated for their time.
Every week Facilitators will be compensated for their facilitation time. More specifically;
Approximately 15 hours per week.
SYNCHRONOUS :
Facilitators will be compensated for all time with students :
1 hour whole group (once a week)
1 hour drop in Office Hours (twice a week)
1 hour check-ins with each student (once a week)
Attend 1-on-1 Facilitator check-in with the Coordinator as the program progresses.
ASYNCHRONOUS :
Facilitators will also be compensated for any cohort management time they spend to support their students :
2 hour a week reviewing student work and providing feedback
Minimum Requirements :
Experience and confidence in teaching mathematics. Experience teaching middle school mathematics; Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college / university;
experience dealing with diverse student populations and familiarity working in an urban setting preferred.
Length of Contract :
July 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024
Contract Amount :
$50.00 per hour, Not exceed $6000.00
