Job Summary

Based in the Prisma Health Richland Level 1 Adult and Level 2 Pediatric trauma centers a newly established hospital-based violence intervention program (HVIP) aims to prevent and reduce community and interpersonal violence among high-risk youth and adults.

This role promotes optimal social and emotional functioning of HVIP participants and their families through direct and indirect services, to include, but not limited to development of psychosocial assessments, community resource linkages and referrals.

This role also performs individual, group, and family counseling.

Accountabilities

Conduct in-hospital screening to assess patients' risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder and depression following their injury and provide patients with education and brief intervention (e.

g., behavioral activation, distress reduction, safety planning, cognitive coping) relating to mental health recovery.

Provide evidence-based trauma informed comprehensive intake evaluations via telehealth or, less frequently, face-to-face intakes.

The focal point of these evaluations generally will be on major depressive episode, posttraumatic stress disorder, functional impairment, and related anxiety and mood disorder conditions.

Team member will provide case presentations during group supervision to discuss assessment and treatment planning.

Provide evidence-based treatment via telehealth or, less frequently, face-to-face treatment with patients who have experienced a traumatic injury.

Cognitive and behavioral treatment approaches to addressing posttraumatic stress disorder, major depressive episode, and related anxiety and mood disorders will be most used.

  • Develops measurable goals related to problems while in program develop action plans with program participants and coordinate multi-disciplinary hospital and community services to help address individuals' risks, social determinants of health and recovery utilizing health care and community resources.
  • Maintains appropriate and timely documentation of services in the medical record. Data entry and management that will involve inputting data on baseline assessments, interventions, and follow-ups for the purpose of program evaluation.

Supervisory / Management Responsibility

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in clinical counseling, clinical psychology, s ocial work or a related field.

2 years of e xperience delivering clinical services as a mental health provider.

Licensed as a LPC, LPC-A or LISW required.

Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a certificate of auto insurance.

Other Required Skills and Experience

Experience working with traumatic stress populations and certifications in evidence-based treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder and depression related to trauma, (e.

g., Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) preferred.

Applicants with personal experience in overcoming violence / violence-related injuries / the criminal justice system are encouraged to apply.

Demonstrated experience working with high-risk youth and adults preferred.

Knowledge of local community issues, specifically community and youth violence preferred.
