Required Related Experience :
- Board certification in Anatomic Pathology.

- Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment.
- Knowledge of pathology and laboratory medicine practices in a variety of clinical, teaching and research environments.
- Demonstrated interest and ability in scholarly activity evidenced by peer review publications and investigative experience.
- Fellowship training or comparable experience (4 years or more) in surgical pathology and one or more of the following areas : Breast, GI, Gyn, GU, Head & Neck, Pulmonary pathology.
- Demonstrated experience (2 years or more) in the administration / management of a surgical pathology laboratory / division.

Job Summary :
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in collaboration with the College of Medicine and University of Kentucky HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky is recruiting a surgical pathologist to serve as the Director of Surgical Pathology.
The successful candidate would hold an MD, DO, MD / PhD, with the appropriate fellowship training and certifications and demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of administration / management of an anatomic laboratory division.
Our department is an academic hospital-based practice that encourages engagement in active collaborative research programs appropriate to title series and rank.
The primary responsibilities of this individual will be to provide administrative leadership as the Director of Surgical Pathology as the section director for the histology and surgical pathology laboratories;
provide clinical subspecialty surgical pathology services; provide classroom teaching to students and clinical teaching to residents, and to participate in scholarly initiatives of the Department and the College of Medicine.
There is a strong preference for a candidate with demonstrated leadership capacity and the ability to become a senior department leader.
The division has 24 surgical pathologists who provide coverage to 1,086 licensed beds at Chandler Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital at the north end of campus.
These two facilities handle approximately 36,000 surgical cases annually.
