Scope and Purpose : The Financial Project Analyst provides analytical and accounting support to the international development programs and to NCBA CLUSA.

This may include statutory financial reporting, management reporting and financial analysis. The Financial Project Analyst reports to the Senior Financial Analyst.

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensures that their analytical needs and financial / operational optimization practices are handled in a compliant, thorough, accurate, actionable, and timely manner.
  • Drives the monthly review process, prioritize areas of risk and opportunity, initiate relevant discussions with key leaders, and coordinate cross-functional projects as necessary.
  • Assists as a go-to analytical resource for the organization’s teams, coaching and training regional partners on business / operation processes and finance concepts like budgeting, forecasting and contract execution.
  • Performs statutory financial reporting, management reporting, ad hoc reporting and financial analysis.
  • Performs month-end close for a portfolio of projects, including start-up and close out, when needed.
  • Manages the Employee Management Tool.

Other Job Duties :

  • Documents and maintains processes, controls and checks for financial reporting.
  • Serves as a team resource by completing special projects which promote the effective and efficient operation of the International Finance Department.
  • Serves as liaison for all field audits
  • Keeps management informed of pending issues.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in accounting, finance, or business, or an advanced degree in finance-related fields from an accredited institution.
  • 4 years’ of relevant experience with non-profit organizations, or six years’ experience using accounting skills.
  • Professional-level proficiency in English, proficiency in French, Spanish or Portuguese preferred
  • Prior experience working with multiple donor-funded projects.
  • Experience with OMB Circular A122, A133 and 22 CFR 226 and USAID funded projects.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software, Sun Systems preferred.
  • Overseas experience working in developing countries preferred.
  • Advanced Excel abilities.
  • Analytical and critical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Results and Detail Oriented.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to travel is preferred.

This position requires a positive attitude, attention to details, ability to motivate people, ability to set priorities, negotiate, problem solve, and a strong interpersonal communications skill.
