Description

Responsibilities

If hired as a Senior Major Gifts Officer, the role will perform a wide range of fundraising activities, including but not limited to, the following :

  • Maintain a top tier of approximately 150 prospects and an active schedule of solicitations with assigned prospects; understanding of prospect and volunteer management preferred.
  • Establish and meet mutually agreed-upon annual goals for dollars asked and raised, and for visits made with donors and prospects.
  • Develop strategy and conduct identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship visits with prospects with giving ability ratings of $250,000 and above.
  • Coordinate cultivation events and programs hosted by assigned prospects when appropriate.
  • Identify new prospective major gift donors and develop long-range plans for their involvement with the School.
  • Responsible for ensuring that pertinent information and contacts for assigned prospects are properly recorded in the institutional database of record.
  • Collaborate with other fundraisers in the department and across the university in the overall relationship building of alumni with the School.

  • Collaborate with other fundraisers in the department and across the university in the overall relationship building of alumni with the School.

Qualifications

If hired as a Senior Major Gifts Officer :

  • BA or BS degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in institutional development with emphasis on major gifts from individuals and organizations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to function with a high degree of independence with assigned group of prospects, yet interact collaboratively with colleagues in a centralized framework of fundraising, participating in and contributing to total team effort.
  • Experience interacting comfortably with faculty, School leadership, and CEO-level contacts.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Travel and evening / weekend work required, including blocks of time for major events such as Reunion Weekends. Also required is the ability to attend, participate, facilitate, or lead on-campus and off-campus events / activities outside of normal business hours, both on the Philadelphia campus and in regional markets.
  • Entrepreneurial inclination and capacity for hard work within goal-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with database manipulation and other computer software, preferably Microsoft Office and Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of university environment and academic mission preferred.

If hired as a Major Gifts Officer :
