Responsibilities :
- Perform general injection techniques using proper methods and animal handling.
- Performing Tumor volume measurements
- Perform survival and terminal blood draws and processing of whole blood for the isolation of serum and / or plasma
- Daily clinical observations and examination of animals for signs of disease and distress and recording and reporting of findings.
- Animal lesion and / or tumor measurements, when required.
- Animal weighing and recording and reporting of findings, when required.
- Maintain vascular access button catheters in rats as well as perform catheter blood draws, when required.
Vivarium Responsibilities
- Assist with general animal care (animal intake, husbandry, breeding colony) when required.
- Daily monitoring and maintenance of the facility and inventories.
Administrative Responsibilities :
- Maintain clear, prompt, and thorough records of all findings / observations during procedures, studies, clinical observations / weight data and vivarium checks.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute studies according to IACUC protocols.
- Perform quality review of all required in-life study documents to ensure accurate completion of all associated manipulations and animal records.
Qualifications :
- AA / AS / BA / BS
- 1-2 years’ prior experience working in a general laboratory setting and the use of aseptic techniques.
- 2-3 years’ prior experience working in laboratory animal research setting with rodents and using general sterile techniques.
