Alpert JFS is looking for a skilled Food Pantry Operations Manager to be responsible for all aspects of Alpert JFS’s procurement and distribution of food, including pickup, receipt, storage, and distribution of food to community members in need.

This individual will train and supervise volunteers to ensure that daily client needs are met and will serve as the agency liaison for community food insecurity efforts.

Food Pantry Operations Manager Essential Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the three pantry locations (Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach).
  • Weekly visits to each location at minimum, may require more depending on project / time of year.
  • Inventory food / supplies quarterly and provide required food bank report.
  • Work with vendors to order food and supplies to supplement donations for the pantry to meet community needs.
  • Per approved budgetary guidelines, manage monthly food spend.
  • Collaborate with Chief Program Officer and Director of Food Insecurity and Volunteer Leadership to manage food waste, pantry traffic, and shelf placement.
  • Verify invoices and create requests for the Accounting Department.
  • Work with the Food Insecurity and Volunteer Coordinator to schedule volunteers to assist with packing, sorting, and stocking shelves, etc.
  • Coordinate monthly pantry deliveries with volunteers and clients.
  • Responsible for planning and ordering items throughout the year for special occasion deliveries.
  • Plan holiday baskets on Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, Passover, Hannukah when indicated.
  • Work with program directors to identify clients in need of food.
  • Participate in Palm Beach and Martin County hunger education initiatives.
  • Create social and interactive opportunities for the community to learn about Alpert JFS’s Food Insecurity program.
  • Accept and track donations for food pantry, including working with Development Department to track in-kind donations.
  • Manage volunteer food delivery fill-in process.
  • Maintain relationship with other local food banks.
  • Maintain client dietary restrictions (i.e. low sodium, food for children, kosher) via Electronic Health Records and / or Excel.
  • Prepare monthly checklists to track food, household items and / or personal hygiene products to be distributed each month.
  • Work with the Office Operations Manager to provide directions for the facilities tasks required in the food pantries.
  • Obtain, maintain, disseminate data and report metrics for the food pantry program.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years working in a non-profit with at least one year program oversight.
  • Experience recruiting and / or working with volunteers.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to interact and communicate with staff, volunteers, and community (pantry clients and donors) .
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork, collegiality and self- motivation were necessary for success.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in customer service with high standards of timeliness and responsiveness.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
  • Strong organization and time management skills required.
