The Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) is a more than 40-year-old, multi-million-dollar research institute at the University of Central Florida (UCF) focused on creating a boundless future where solving the world's most challenging problems becomes a reality at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

The Opportunity :

This position manages IT operations for the Institute and supports system operation needs for sponsored research. The Manager Information Technology III will report to the Institute Director.

Responsibilities :

Responsible for the secure operations and maintenance of servers and infrastructure supporting the Institute's domain, staff and endpoints.

Includes Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, database servers, web servers, file & print shares, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and monitoring.

Coordinates with University Facilities for Data Center maintenance needs for HVAC system, UPS, backup generator, fire suppression system, and access control.

Plans, designs, executes, and supports network and systems expansions, upgrades for the Institute and sponsored projects.

Serves as Departmental Security Coordinator, working with UCF's Information Security Office to ensure systems are maintained according to UCF IT policies and standards and support IT security consultation and liaison activities for regulated research compliance requirements (walk-throughs, reviews of servers and direct lab systems, network security, and physical controls to meet compliance).

Responsible for patching and maintenance of endpoints and addressing system vulnerabilities in accordance with UCF standards.

Supports the development of policies, standards and procedures as needed.

Provides consultative support to researchers with IT needs such as audio / video, quotes for new systems, storage needs, etc.

Manages system administrators, including supervision of end-user technical support and ensuring that high-end customer service is provided to facilitate research needs.

Plans, designs, executes, and supports network and systems expansions, upgrades for the Institute and sponsored projects.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla.

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor's or Master's degreein Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in research computing or a related area, with 3+ years in a management role.

Strong understanding of high-performance computing, data analysis tools, and research collaboration platforms.

Able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality with discretion and good judgment.
