Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive analysis, design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of our global network infrastructure and application components.
Their duties encompass a diverse range of tasks, including evaluation, maintenance, installation, and training, all aimed at ensuring optimal computer network performance to meet both company and user satisfaction.
They play a pivotal role in providing guidance, information, and recommendations on network configurations and installations across all sites, including multiple plants.
Responsibilities
- Stay abreast of industry innovations and emerging technologies to maintain current knowledge of products, services, and market dynamics
- Collaborate closely with cybersecurity experts to design and implement robust security policies
- Fully participate in the construction, configuration, and documentation of the network infrastructure
- Ensure strict adherence to network standards and service level objectives
- Design and offer technical support for Azure data center networking
- Lead large-scale projects from inception through completion
- Provide network management and support in retail store settings
- Cultivate peer relationships and promote inter-team collaboration within the IT department
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, IP Routing, Switching, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc
- Configure and install vendor network appliances as required by the business
- Develop, implement, and administer plant / process Ethernet networks comprising devices from Hirschmann, Palo Alto, Cisco, and others
- Manage Storage Area Networks (SAN) switching infrastructure, including application-specific equipment
- Supervise the administration of systems and servers related to the network to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of services to authorized users
- Fulfill any other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Solid technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential
- 7+ years of experience in managing enterprise network infrastructure from top-tier vendors is required
- Expertise in Cisco Nexus and Catalyst series switches is required
- Proficiency in wireless networking technologies, particularly with Cisco Wireless and Meraki platforms, is required
- Working knowledge of public cloud networking technologies (Azure, AWS) is required
- Working knowledge of full-stack SDWAN appliances, specifically Versa and Meraki platforms, is required
- Working knowledge of Cisco ISE platform is required
- Understanding of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and VPN technologies is required
- Strong understanding of Firewalls, IDS / IPS, and UTM devices is required
- Possession of current CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE certification in routing and switching is a plus
- Three years of experience managing network infrastructure within manufacturing or retail environments is a plus
- Ability to effectively translate technical topics into business language, both written and verbal, is important
- Strong team player with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in an enterprise business environment is necessary
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required
