Position Summary :
Manages daily activities of the Patch Test Clinic, including ordering, organizing and otherwise maintaining antigens, the antigen database and avoidance sheets, scheduling patients referred for patch testing, screening and counseling patients scheduled for past testing, serving as liaison between patients and providers, and assisting the providers in other patch testing duties as needed, such as maintaining a database of positive reactions and assisting with research projects.
In addition, the patch test technician will perform patient care activities including, rooming patients, preparing, applying, securing, mapping and removing patches, and educating patients on plan of care.
Education / Experience :
Graduate from a healthcare program, such as medical assistant or pharmacy technician equivalent experience. Five years of clinical experience is required.
Two years of experience in a patch test clinic is desirable.
Special Knowledge / Skills / Certifications / Licenses :
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and ability to learn information in a fast-paced environment. Excellent clinical and human relations skills.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Basic computer / keyboarding / mouse skills required. Knowledge of allergens and ability to research the source of allergens is critical, experience in a patch test clinic is preferred.
