Supervising Producer
The Chicago Sports Network is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and creative Supervising Producer that manages the production of sports content on studio shows, special programs and monitors live game broadcasts.
The Supervising Producer will work with a variety of teams and individuals, including reporters, technical staff, and on-air talent, to ensure that the final product is accurate, fair, and adheres to ethical journalism standards.
This role will be also be responsible for scheduling and be involved in executing vision for the full scope of studio production and ensures broadcast standards are met and shares best practices across internal and external groups.
This position requires an individual with excellent communication and organization skills, as well as a deep understanding and passion for sports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Supervise studio staff and all studio-based programming on a nightly basis
- Coordinate between departments daily to ensure smooth planning, production and airing of content
- Work extensively with staff to further their development; create production SOPs to aid in that effort
- Coordinate sponsorship execution within live studio programming
- Conduct planning and scheduling for producers and on-air talent and budget management
- Innovative storytelling with an eye for engaging visual and interactive elements
- Exercise strong editorial judgment
- Manage post-production processes such as editing and graphics production
- Ensure producers have resources and assets necessary to produce successful studio shows
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements :
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in sports television production
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
- Experience managing a large production staff
- Substantial sports producing experience with a proven track record in a television newsroom
- Expert knowledge of sports, both local and national, and an understanding of what audiences seek in sports coverage
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to make quick and responsible decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in digital content creation and understanding of the digital media landscape
- High level of sports production knowledge in all sports
- Ability to work non-standard hours during sport season as necessary
The Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) will launch in October across multiple platforms. The network will air more than 300 live Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox games annually and include pre- and postgame coverage while showing multisport programming 24 hours a day.
CHSN will broadcast from studios located in both Chicago's United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field. The network will start airing Blackhawks and Bulls preseason games in October, showing White Sox games beginning in 2025.
