Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology, Genetics, & Immunology (MGI) at Michigan State University () is seeking two instructors to serve as team members for teaching our core microbiology-related lab and lecture courses, specifically Introductory and Advanced Microbiology Laboratory courses, as well as other microbiology-related lab and lecture courses.
These are full-time, 9-month fixed-term (non-tenure track) academic year appointments, renewable annually based on funding and performance.
Initially, the successful candidate will work directly with a primary faculty member to guide a diverse population of undergraduates with their assigned individual and collaborative group laboratory activities, as well as to deliver course content, manage course-associated online learning platforms, develop assessment tools, and grade student work.
Future advancement opportunities may include becoming the primary instructor for the Introductory Microbiology Laboratory course.

Minimum Requirements
MS degree (minimum) in Microbiology, Biology, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstration of teaching potential through prior experience as a teaching assistant or instructor. education-related professional development or training, or service as laboratory supervisor.

Desired Qualifications
PhD degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a closely related discipline.
Experience with teaching introductory microbiology or general biology laboratory courses.
Experience in research utilizing microbiology-or biology-related techniques.
Teaching or assisting with microbiology-or biology-related undergraduate lecture and / or hybrid courses.
Experience using online learning management systems, such as D2L.
Management of graduate TAs and / or undergraduate learning assistants.
