Job Summary :
The Human Resource Generalist performs HR-related duties and works closely with the HR Director to provide employee and center leadership support.
The Human Resources Department represents the employees and La Reina in all areas of compliance.
Position Responsibilities :
Employee Relations
- Coach supervisors on handling employee issues / concerns.
- Provide employees guidance and handle concerns as stated in our handbook.
- Provide necessary education and materials to managers and employees, including manuals, employee handbooks, forms, and standardized reports.
- Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
- Work with the HR Director to handle investigations and complaints.
- Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company.
- Help ?monitor the organization's culture / values to support the attainment of the company's goals and promote employee satisfaction.
Safety
- Perform weekly walks in the plant to assist in controlling workplace hazards and eliminating or reducing the risk of workplace illness or injury.
- Promote the organization's commitment to occupational health and safety to all employees.
- Submit observation reports to the Operations or Safety Committee.
- Ensure we are on target with Safety Incentive Programs (incentive programs, lunches and gifts, etc.).
- Assist with workers comp claims (injury report, clinic, interactive process, etc.)
HR Compliance
- Tracking of Leave of Absence (FMLA, Personal Leave, Workers Comp, etc.)
- Post annual state and federal postings.
- Ensure timely final termination paperwork and pay.
- Maintain the I-9 binders.
- Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Recruiting
- Participate in Interviews.
- Onboarding / Orientation.
- NAFTA Program work with the company recruiter regarding the NAFTA program.
- Assist in reviewing resumes and applications received.
Benefits
- Provide day-to-day benefits administration.
- Assist employees with any claim issues.
- Administers Worker’s Comp Claims Interactive Process.
- Participate in annual open enrollments with each shift.
Training
- Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Assist with establishing an employee training system that addresses the company's training needs, new employee orientation or onboarding, management development, and cross-training processes.
- Reporting.
- Maintains employee-related databases and assists with preparing and analyzing reports for management, as necessary or requested (OT / Labor Report, Turnover, etc.)
Compensation
- Provide competitive market research and prepare pay studies to help establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.
- Provide payroll processing backup support. Partner with payroll to provide necessary data to process payroll.
- The Human Resources Generalist assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the HR Director.
Requirements :
- Bilingual English / Spanish is a required
- 3-5 years HR Generalist required role requirement.
- Minimum 1-year, sole HR required.
- 1-year Manufacturing facility environment is required.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A clear understanding of excellence in customer service, a sense of urgency, and the flexibility to assist in all areas of the HR Department as needed.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Flexible schedule (will be required to attend all 3 shifts sporadically throughout the year.)
- Strong organizational skills.
- Being detail-oriented is a must.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Independent, team player, self-starter required.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to :
- Sit most of the day and utilize a desktop computer.
- Stand and walk occasionally.
- Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors occasionally.
- Exposure to high noise levels and cold environments occasionally.
PPE Slip-resistant shoes, hair and beard nets, safety glasses, and ear plugs are required in food manufacturing work areas, and gloves are recommended.
Schedule :
- Monday - Friday
- 3rd shift at times (flexible)
