Position Summary This Director of Residence Life and Housing Operations is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and implementing student resident activities.
Position also manages resident housing facilities. This is an on-call position. The Director of Residence Life and Housing Operations reports to the Dean of Campus Life.

- Develops and revises residence hall policies and procedures.
- Enforces college rules and regulations.
- Responds to and assists with emergency situations, including after-hours emergencies.
- Plans and executes residence hall expenditures.
- Supervises the activities of residence life / student housing offices.
- Counsels students having difficulty adjusting to residence hall life.
- Plans and coordinates programs and activities for residents.
- Coordinates the activities of the Residence Hall Council / Residence Hall Association.
- Coordinates the application process for residence hall staff selection.
- Adjudicates disciplinary cases involving residence hall regulations.
- Coordinates and plans the housing assignment process.
- Recommends and assists in the planning, new construction and maintenance of student housing.
- Assists with the coordination of housing conferences and camps.
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of student housing, residence life, conduct;
- Ability to effectively lead and mange residence life program;
- Ability to multi-tasking and adapt to a changing environment;
- Versatile in working independently and within a team;
- Excellent writing and analytical skills;
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, DSX, Banner);
- Understanding of FERPA and compliance guidelines for confidentiality;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree. Required Work Experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Residence Life and / or Student Life and / or other relevant area.
- Three (3) years of experience supervising professional staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience as a Director of Residence Life or equivalent.
- Previous participation / exposure to residence life associations.
- Significant experience managing residential facilities.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW. Work Hours
- Typical Monday through Friday 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm with occasional extended hours / weekends to meet departmental needs and / or needs of the learning community.
- Call-in duty as appropriate.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 10lbs for table set-up / tear-down for activities.
- Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly move about residence halls to actively engage residents, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
