Toyota Material Handling's manufacturing facility includes processes for sheet metal cutting and fabrication, steel saw cutting, CNC machining, press brake and hydraulic press forming, manual and robotic MIG welding, resistance welding, powder coating, painting, assembly, and inspection.

About the Job :

The Production Engineer is a technically minded, entrepreneurial professional who will support Production Engineering functions including new process preparation, introduction of new technology into manufacturing, and continually improving safety, quality, and productivity.

This person must be results-oriented and process focused with an approach that is responsive and aligned with company strategies.

What You’ll Be Doing :

In this role, you will perform functions including :

  • Lead investigation of new equipment to increase productivity through technology advancement. You will be the project leader in planning, procuring, integrating and installation of production equipment into the Assembly areas.
  • Drive Technical improvements including : the implementation of automatic guided vehicles, selection and implementation of controlled torque tools, and projects including automated conveyors and fail-safe devices which automatically stop production when defects occur.
  • Proactively identify continuous improvement activities within manufacturing to help our Associates work safely while increasing the quality of our products.
  • Engage with stakeholders throughout manufacturing to increase the productivity of operations to deliver Toyota’s customer the best value.
  • Support organizational initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our operations while supporting the community within which we live.
  • Support manufacturing to investigate and eliminate downtime within the assigned area.
  • Develop a vision and path forward for the area you support which will allow new technology and automation to increase productivity and capacity to meet future sales forecasts.
  • Facilitate lean manufacturing practices within the Toyota Production System to improve material flow and inventory levels to reduce lead-time and improve safety.
  • Strive to become the technical expert for the assigned support area, and proactively identify and improve issues before problems occur.
  • Interact with equipment suppliers and other vendors maintain project timelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical / Materials / Chemical)
  • Associates degree in a technical field with proven, applicable experience

What You’ll Need for Success :

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization to advance your goals.
  • Flexible work ethic to meet varying workload demands of the position.
  • Experience with industrial assembly processes and methods : Controlled tightening toolsAutomated conveyors and fail-safe devicesNew process developmentProduct safeguarding through robust poka-yoke implementationAutomated guided vehicles
  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Ability to design fixtures and tooling using Solidworks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or Catia
  • Strong technical experience with troubleshooting capability and willingness to work hands-on.
  • Strong work ethic, intrinsically motivated, ability to organize work and execute concurrent projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and process improvement.
  • Ability to convey complex information in an understandable format.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
