We are seeking an experienced Military SATCOM Professional (MILSATCOM) to provide instruction on the operation and maintenance of computer-based satellite monitor and control systems at customer sites.
The Technical Trainer Specialist position supports the 53rd Space Operations Squadron (53SOPS) on the Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Operations and Technical Support II (WSOTS II) program.
This position will work with the Combat Training Flight (CTF) to provide input and assistance in the following areas : Program Of Instruction (POI) development, assist teaching classes at the request of the CTF, assist with and / or develop MTL (Mission Task List) with input from the CTF, and other training related work as directed.
This trainer is also responsible for developing and maintaining documentation provided by the WSOTS II. This position is also required to perform System Administrator duties which include but not limited to daily analysis, maintenance, and restoral of systems.
Management of systems and databases and configuration of Operating Systems, Software Applications, Active Directory (AD) domain, and databases.
Will work on problems exercising judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Essential Functions :
- Provides SATCOM technical training services at Fort Detrick (Frederick, Maryland) Wideband SATCOM Operations Center (WSOC) site.
- Research, develops, and maintains training course materials and documentation.
- Provides feedback to technical editors, graphics editors and support staff during technical review of training material development.
- Compiles and analyzes student test data and course results to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, and provides input to training task selection, objectives, instructional techniques, and evaluations to best meet customer training needs.
- Recommends modifications to training programs where appropriate.
- Supports the CTF with training material and classes as-needed.
- Develops and updates as-needed WSOTS II training materials for Space Force Satellite Control training.
- Conducts classroom training for Space Force Guardians.
- Maintains knowledge of satellite control operations and procedures.
- Performs on-site customer training to include interface with technical representatives.
- Performs On-the-Job Training (OJT) and informal training support as required.
- Maintains an issue knowledge base to document specific training issues related to the course.
- Performs systems administration duties related to site systems and network equipment.
- Performs daily system analysis and database management of complex computer. operating systems, application software, database applications, and network protocols.
- Maintains the daily Master Station Log entries.
- May occasionally be required to work 12-hour shifts to include weekends as-needed.
Qualifications :
- Active TOP SECRET security clearance.
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to obtain CompTIA Security+ within 6 months of hire date.
- Must be able to qualify in all customer operational positions at the site and follow the same qualification process as the active-duty Guardians and Air Force civilians.
- Minimum of 5 years of related SATCOM and instructional experience in a military environment.
- Requires proficient knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- IA certification in compliance with DoD 8570; Capable of obtaining DoD / NACI IT Level I certification.
Preferred Additional Skills :
- Experience with military satellite systems monitoring and control systems equipment.
- Experience with satellite configuration and control systems software.
- Experience within a WSOC and its systems, policies, and procedures.
- Completion of Air Force Basic Instructor Course (BIC).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- An aptitude for computers, networking equipment, cybersecurity practices, and any skills particular to the administration of a Windows environment.
- Experience with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) process that supports institutional training, structured self-development and distributed learning.
- Familiar with the Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) accreditation standards.
- Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Excellent technical skills to understand and translate information into presentable instructional material.
- Understand International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) policies and procedures.
