Sentara College of Health Sciences is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Assistant Professor!

Sign-on bonus of $5K offered to qualified candidates!

Position Status : Full-time, Day Shift, 40 hours

Position Location : This position is onsite for residents of the Hampton Roads / Northeastern North Carolina geographic area and includes 2x a week clinicals.

Standard Working Hours : 8 : 00AM to 5 : 00PM (ET).

Position Summary :

Provides classroom and or clinical instruction to students in Sentara's health science programs. Uses interactive and innovative teaching learning strategies in both on ground and on-line courses.

Responsible for the development of faculty in both the classroom and clinical settings. Responsible for student tutoring, advising and support as required and participates in department and college committees as assigned.

Collaborates with the community to support and facilitate research, participates in research as it relates to teaching and keeps current in evidence-based research as it relates to classroom and clinical instruction of students.

Masters in nursing, nursing education or education appropriate to subject matter being taught. Doctorate in nursing or education preferred.

Minimum 5 years recent professional experience required; minimum of 3 years previous teaching experience in a BSN or allied health program;

OR demonstrated consistent positive feedback from students; conducted research to enhance body of knowledge in the discipline.

Required qualifications :

Masters in nursing, nursing education or education appropriate to subject matter being taught REQUIRED

Active RN in license in VA or compact state REQUIRED

Minimum of 3 years previous teaching experience in a BSN or allied health program OR recent professional experience REQUIRED ;

Preferred qualifications :

Doctorate in nursing or education preferred .
