Our client, a long-standing and reputable asphalt paving company is seeking a skilled Plant Manager to join their team. The Plant Manager is a supervisory role to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the asphalt paving process, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with established quality standards.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Key Responsibilities of the Asphalt Foreman :

Project Planning and Preparation :

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project specifications, scope, and timelines.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings.
  • Review blueprints, survey results, and other technical documents.

Team Supervision and Coordination :

  • Lead a team of asphalt crew members, equipment operators, and laborers, providing clear instructions and guidance.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust work plans as needed.

Quality Control and Compliance :

  • Ensure that all work is executed in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
  • Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship to maintain high standards of construction.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any potential issues or deviations from project requirements.

Equipment Management :

  • Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and safety of equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment repair and maintenance activities as necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that the crew operates equipment efficiently and safely.

Safety Management :

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols.
  • Conduct safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents.

Communication and Reporting :

  • Maintain open and effective communication with project stakeholders.
  • Report project progress regularly.
  • Document work completed, materials used, and any relevant data for project records.

Problem Solving :

  • Address unforeseen challenges that may arise during the project promptly and effectively.
  • Identify potential solutions to problems related to logistics, materials, or technical issues.

Qualifications and Requirements for the Plant Manager :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in asphalt paving.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
