Position Description
Reporting directly to the Men’s Head of Development Teams, the MYNT U15 Head Coach will be responsible for educating, equipping, and developing our top talents through age-appropriate, skill-building approaches with the goal of grooming players to play for our Senior National Teams.
This role requires the implementation of coaching expertise, excellent in-person and remote communication skills, and collaboration with peers in identifying, selecting, developing, and transitioning talents through the player pathway.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reports to the MYNT Head of Development
- Collaborates with the MYNT Head of Development (Technical & Leadership) to create the best aligned environment for our players within US Soccer set structure and processes (THE WAY)
- Serves as the Head Coach of the Men’s Youth National Team U15 (MYNT) and may assist other Youth National Teams as needed
- Works to support and lead a high-performance environment for the Men’s Youth National Teams
- Oversee the individual development and performance environment for players and staff
- Creates the conditions for an optimal on and off-the-field performance for players, coaches, and staff
- Commits to delivering consistently to players and staff the vision, mission, and objectives of Soccer and the overarching sporting strategy
- Ability to align and deliver the USSF Player Development Philosophy The WAY language (cultural anchors, performance anchors, game model, methodology, etc.)
- Delivers the US Player pathway document outlining our areas of focus for all ages and stages of the program
- Supports the U14 Talent Identification Initiatives
- Works collaboratively with the Talent ID department to identify, report, record, and select high potential players across the pathway
- Contributes to the overall talent identification audit process providing outstanding player insights to support the player decision process of player selection
- Responsible for the international development of elite soccer players of our country
- Ensures all national team players within their care have an up to date and robust IDP
- Delivers with excellence and in line with the plan, perform, reflect, refine model
- Engages in the process of robust post-camp reviews with the MYNT Head of Development (Technical & Leadership) and adopts the personal development plan accordingly
- Leads the process of robust post-camp reviews for staff and players that align with overall sporting strategy
- Evaluates the performance environment and offers areas of improvement on realistic, achievable objectives
- Complete goal setting and performance review discussions with staff on an annual basis
- Drives a culture of building outstanding players, staff, and club relationship
- Supports the US Soccer club engagement program with regular strategic club and player in-club visits
- Upon request of the Head of Development Team, contribute to the US Soccer Coaching Education Programs
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- USSF A License or higher (or comparable UEFA A)
- At least five years of coaching experience within elite youth development
- Passion for working with and the developing young players and staff
- Proven history of developing the individual player
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage and lead self and others.
- Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication combined with a professional demeanor
- Must be able to connect micro details to the macro vision and mission.
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and Video Editing
- Understands child development and maturation
- A passion for and knowledge of talent identification
- Possesses a growth mindset
- Has the ability to work as part of a wider coaching team influencing coaching within the US Soccer landscape
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- Willing to relocate once National Training Facility is established in Atlanta
Desired Qualifications & Skills
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Coaching education experience
- Thorough institutional knowledge of Soccer’s mission, goals, technical plan, policies, practices, and procedures
