My client is looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee critical financial operations and ensure the accuracy of accounting records. This position will collaborate closely with the Controller to manage financial reporting, compliance, and reconciliation processes. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments and brings a strong accounting background, with experience in industries such as biotech or startups.

Responsibilities :

• Assist in month-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciling balance sheets and income statements.
• Oversee accounts payable operations, including vendor invoice processing and subledger reconciliation.
• Perform reconciliations for various accounts, such as bank accounts, fixed assets, inventory, prepaid expenses, and other asset and liability accounts.
• Post journal entries for asset, liability, and income statement accounts to maintain accurate records.
• Assist in generating financial reports and schedules for management and operational teams.
• Collaborate with the Controller on monthly financial statement reporting, budget variance analysis, and commentary.
• Prepare and submit various tax filings, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and gross receipts.
• Provide accounting support for projects aligned with organizational compliance standards.
• Coordinate and facilitate annual independent audits by gathering required documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in startup environments.
• Strong proficiency in month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of general ledger operations and financial reporting.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and fixed asset management.
• Ability to handle multiple tax filings, such as sales and use tax and property tax.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
