Responsibilities*
In collaboration with PCTU (Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit) / 11W (General and moderate care) team, manages acute and critically ill pre and post-surgical infants and children with congenital / acquired heart disease
- Perform detailed history and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, radiographs, and clinical studies.
- Order / prescribe and titrate medications.
- Perform various diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures.
- Maintain continuity of care
- Collaborate with providers / consultants to coordinate clinical care.
- Document patient status, evaluation, and treatment plan
- Facilitate patient transfer across levels of care, including writing discharge orders and communicating specific patient needs to team members.
- Provide education for patients, families, staff.
- Participation in quality assurance activities.
Note : This is a 40-hour night position with rotation to days as needed. Includes weekends.

Required Qualifications*
Nurse Practitioner
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan
- Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment
- Two years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, cardiology, or pediatric intensive care unit setting
Physician Assistant
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment
- Two years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, cardiology, or pediatric intensive care unit setting

Work Schedule
Appointment : 40 Hours
Shift : This is a 40-hour night position with rotation to days as needed.Includes weekend and holidays shifts as required by the service.
Location : Work locations will comprise of both 11W and the PCTU
