What you will be doing
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise by researching and documenting the accounting impacts of various transactions in line with US GAAP and Statutory financial reporting standards.
You'll be instrumental in maintaining and updating our accounting policies, ensuring they meet current standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include verifying financial transactions and executing crucial quarterly and annual controls.
You'll also engage in dynamic, ad hoc projects that offer room for creativity and problem-solving. You'll work alongside a diverse and talented team from Financial Reporting, Corporate Accounting, Actuarial, Investment Accounting, Legal, and other operational departments, providing a collaborative environment that supports professional growth and cross-functional learning.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Researching, analyzing, and documenting the appropriate accounting treatment for transactions related to new or existing GAAP and Statutory accounting requirements.
Your findings, presented in technical accounting memos, will provide essential recommendations to management and external auditors, ensuring our practices are aligned with current standards.
- Working closely with team members to implement issued GAAP and Statutory accounting standards. You'll assess the impact on accounting policies, financial statements, and disclosures, and present your findings to management and external auditors, playing a critical role in maintaining our compliance and accuracy.
- Assisting in coordinating and documenting the activities of the Disclosure Committee Working Group, ensuring all necessary information is accurately compiled and reported.
- Regularly reviewing and updating corporate accounting policies to ensure they comply with the latest standards, regulatory changes, and internal process updates.
Your work will keep our practices current and compliant.
- Taking charge of the Financial Reporting controls and processes managed by the Accounting Policy team. You'll ensure that GAAP and Statutory financial reporting requirements are met, supporting COSO and MAR control compliance, and contributing to our robust internal control environment.
- Engaging in special financial projects as needed, applying your expertise to drive these initiatives forward. You'll have the opportunity to work on diverse tasks that enhance our financial operations and strategy.

What Sets You Up for Success
- Five years minimum experience in accounting and / or auditing with knowledge of GAAP accounting standards
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- Proficiency in technical accounting, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to research, interpret, analyze, summarize, and clearly present accounting pronouncements.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, or working towards CPA, preferred
- Experience in insurance accounting, preferred
- Familiarity with Statutory accounting principles, preferred
- Background in public accounting, preferred
