Position Summary
The Payroll and Human Resources Specialist is a full-time position and assists the daily operations of the Business Office.
The duties include Payroll, HR, and Accounting / Billing support. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Payroll
- Process biweekly and semi-monthly payrolls in Paycom.
- Communicate with various departments to receive and streamline payroll information acquisition.
- Train new employees on Fessenden’s payroll system (Paycom).
- Handle payroll questions and complete any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the payroll process.
- Continue to implement processes and / or technologies to improve the payroll function.
- Human Resources Support
- Onboard new employees.
- Notify departments of new hires and departing employees.
- Assign electronic checklists, tasks, and trainings to employees.
- Complete employment verifications.
- Track employee data.
- Assign employee letters.
- Accounting / Billing support
- Maintain student billing accounts in Blackbaud’s Tuition Management.
- Process payments.
- Perform journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Provide other support to CFO, Controller, and Director of HR, as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- 2-3 years payroll and / or HR experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; multilingual is a plus.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve.
- Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment, as our staff, student body, and their families come from multiple countries and cultures.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong computer and technical skills, including Excel, software proficiency, and data analysis.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or Accounting.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Prior experience with billing and accounts receivables.
