POSITION SUMMARY
To guide, develop, implement, manage, and evaluate staff education, training, and competencies including new hire, transfer, and current staff across all disciplines.
Serves as an educational expert tto meet the governing and accrediting organization’s requirements to deliver safe and excellent care to patients, families, and visitors.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*
1. Assesses educational deficits and knowledge gaps across all disciplines using data from safety, risk, quality metrics such as safety reporting, quality indicators surveys, rounding, staff or leadership request.
2. Determines most effective and efficient methods of educational delivery for the adult learner across all disciplines.
3. Designs and develops educational plans and education content :
a. Utilizing evidence-based practices and principles in content development and deployment.
b. To meet determined objectives while ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Ohio Board of Nursing Practice Act and local, State, Federal and other regulatory regulations, and standards pertaining to the areas of responsibility.
c. With high level of skill, engages the adult learner by using innovative educational strategies in a variety of methods, including new software and technologies, to facilitate achievement of program objectives and optimize retention of information.
Must be able to learn and utilize new software and technologies rapidly.
d. Using ProMedica endorsed resources, evidence-based resources, and guidelines, and governing bodies / agencies
4. Manages and coordinates, in conjunction with the department leadership and educator, the onboarding orientation of newly hired or transferred staff (clinical and non-clinical) and ongoing education, training, and competency activities.
5. Evaluates education effectiveness on a continual basis to ensure demonstration of success in meeting objectives, financial and clinical impact using safety, quality, and performance improvement metrics.
6. Serves as an education mentor and expert to departments within ProMedica Metro Region.
7. Ability to lead a team and / or participate as a functional team member. Creates a team climate of objectivity, cooperation, recognition, contribution, and trust.

8. Assists with revision of nursing practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and education that align with ProMedica Professional Nurse Practice Model.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Minimum bachelor’s in nursing Degree required. Must obtain master’s degree of
Nursing within 5 years from hire date.
Skills : Competent as a clinical bedside registered nurse. Computer proficiency required including (but not limited to) Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & SharePoint, EPIC EHR, and learning management systems.
Must have experience with computer-based learning. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries.
Must possess critical thinking and problem solving / analytical skills. A high level of organization, delegation, and writing skills is required.
Must demonstrate evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
Must be customer service oriented.
Years of Experience : Minimal of 3-5 years of nursing experience.
License : Must be a registered nurse and licensed to practice in the state of Ohio.
Certification : Certification in Nursing Professional Development or area of specialty required with
2 years of hire date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Master’s Degree in Nursing
Skills : Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Management, Quality Improvement, Performance
Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice and / or change process

Certification : Certification in area of experience upon application.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Personal Protective Equipment : Must be able to tolerate exposure to airborne pathogens and blood and body fluids.
Physical Demands : Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations and tolerate prolonged periods of standing;
Must be able to lift up to 35lbs, move and / or carry equipment and materials.
