The Civil Rights Resolution Specialist will play an important role in the University’s education, prevention, and response efforts pursuant to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA / 504, and related statutes.
The Civil Rights Resolution Specialist will report to the Director, Civil Rights Compliance. Responsibilities include reviewing and addressing reports of discrimination and harassment from students, faculty, staff, and community members, conducting intake / informational meetings with Complainants and Respondents, collaborating with parties interested in informal resolution, and designing educational programs for the university community.
Job Duties Responsibility Area : Case Management Duties : - Receive and respond to reports of discrimination and harassment received from students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Complete intake / informational meetings with complainant and respondent parties.- Prioritize cases, issues, and requests based on knowledge of university and office policy.
- Organize, manage, and maintain extensive and highly confidential electronic and paper files. Input data into database, requiring attention to detail and an understanding of university policies, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA / 504, and applicable state statutes.
- Provide effective process communication and documentation, coordinate live hearings, and ensure sanction compliance. Percentage Of Time 40 Essential Function : Yes Responsibility Area : Informal Resolution Facilitator Duties : - Meet with parties to discuss Informal Resolution processes in civil rights cases consistent with university policy and procedure.
- Engage parties in dialogue about Informal Resolution and facilitate Informal Resolutions.- Draft Informal Resolution Agreements for approval of parties and responsible University personnel.
- Regularly communicate with campus partners and alternative / educational or restorative process facilitators to ensure timeliness and completion of all informal processes.
Percentage Of Time 20 Essential Function : Yes Responsibility Area : Supportive Measures Duties : - Will offer and coordinate supportive measures to parties involved in sexual misconduct, discrimination, or other harassment cases.
- Communicate regularly with campus partners, including residence life, Victim Survivor Advocacy, CAPS, and Care Team to ensure timely and effective implementation of supportive measure requests.
- Complete intake / informational meetings with pregnant and / or parenting students and, where applicable, work with partner units such as Dean of Students, Residence Life, CARE Team, CAPS, and others.
Percentage Of Time 20 Essential Function : Yes Responsibility Area : Data Analysis Duties : - Analyze reports and complaints data to identify patterns of behavior and propose recommendations for action.
Contribute to the creation of reports to share with campus and community stakeholders.
Percentage Of Time 10 Essential Function : Yes Responsibility Area : Educational Materials Duties : - Create and share materials with the campus community and interested stakeholders about harassment and discrimination.
Collaborate with human resources, academic affairs, and the Dean of Students to maintain consistent messaging about avenues for reporting and resolving concerns about discrimination and harassment.
Percentage Of Time 10 Essential Function : Yes Required and Preferred Qualifications Required Education Bachelor’s Degree Required Experience Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in higher education, case management, alternative dispute resolution, or civil rights grievance processes.
Required License / Certification NA Required Additional Qualifications : NA Preferred Education Bachelor’s in social work, counseling, or other social science preferred.
Preferred Experience Formal training in Restorative Justice or Alternative Dispute Resolution.
