Job Title : Saw Machine Operator

Job Description

The saw machine operator will be responsible for cutting metal using band saws or MetlSaws. The metal thickness varies from 1 / 2 inch up to 10 inches.

The operator will perform set up and operation of saws, utilize a sit-down forklift to move metal sheets around the facility, and use a tape measure to ensure accurate cuts.

Additional duties include running and operating shearing machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate saws for cutting metal sheets.
• Utilize a sit-down forklift to move metal sheets around the facility.
• Use a tape measure to ensure proper cutting of metal.
• Operate shearing machines.
• Ensure accurate measurements using fractions and decimals.

Essential Skills

• Experience with saw operation and machine setup (minimum 1 year).
• Ability to read a tape measure down to .32 of an inch and work with decimals.
• Forklift certification with at least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in metal cutting or skilled assembly of machinery / equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with turret, punch press, stamping press, or shearing machines is highly preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a non-climate-controlled, loud facility of about 600 sq. ft. The facility contains panel and table saws, forklifts, and other machinery.

The dress code is jeans or work pants, steel toe boots or shoes, and a plain t-shirt. The available shifts are : 1st shift - Monday to Friday from 6 : 00am to 2 : 30pm, and 3rd shift - Monday to Thursday from 7 : 00pm to 5 : 30am with opportunities for overtime.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, Missouri.
