The US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI)’s is committed to protecting the rights and addressing the needs of persons in forced or voluntary migration worldwide and support their transition to a dignified life.

Working with our partners across the US and internationally, USCRI provides critical services to refugee and immigrant families to help them become self-reliant and contributing members of their communities.

The Development Officer - Grants position supports the growth and operations of the Development team at USCRI and is responsible for identifying, managing, writing, and submitting federal government and private sector grant proposals, supporting USCRI’s Headquarters programmatic and fundraising goals, and additional tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate will be flexible with strong interpersonal skills, open to taking on varied responsibilities, and a self-starter.

The position reports to the Associate Director of Grants and Partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research domestic and international funding opportunities from various sources, including government (federal, state, and local), foundations, and corporations.
  • Analyze funding opportunities to assess whether they meet USCRI’s priority goals and draft decision memos to recommend relevant opportunities.
  • Manage the process of developing, writing, and submitting funding proposals in collaboration with key internal partners including Finance, and Program staff.
  • Track progress of all grant solicitations for USCRI, including those considered or submitted from beginning to outcome.
  • Monitor the implementation and results of grant funded projects in line with donor expectations.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with government, foundation, and corporate partners and ensure timely and accurate reports to funders.
  • Maintaining proposal records and communications in the grant and donor database.
  • Generate periodic reports, including quarterly reports to the Board of Directors, annual work plans and monthly accomplishments.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Significant knowledge of the entire proposal process (federal and foundation). Must have demonstrated track record of managing and submitting successfully funded grant proposals and successfully identifying public and private funding sources.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of demonstrated experience in managing the Federal grant proposal process within an NGO and developing foundation proposals, leading the project and budget design, and drafting needs assessments and program outcomes.
  • Experience with federal grant management, administration, and working with award systems such as SAM.gov, GrantSolutions.gov, etc.
  • Highly effective communication skills, emotional intelligence, and situational awareness.
  • Excellent writing, editing and computer skills required, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience working on donor solicitation, foundation cultivation, fundraising campaigns, reports, or other public communications preferred.
  • Self-starter with ability to work well in a team, juggle multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of USCRI and interest in growing in a nonprofit development and fundraising department long-term.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative / mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).

Salary Range : $65000.0000 To $75000.0000 Annually
