JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fox Corporation’s Media Cloud team is looking to hire an Engineering Manager to help lead our UX squads. This role will focus on the Media Cloud services, which include internal-facing applications used to manage media assets and our editorial Content Management Systems.

These applications service thousands of internal users and are the hub for all Fox content, housing millions of digital assets and article content across all Fox business units.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will manage a team of UX developers, typically focused on 3 main pillars of development :

Building new, greenfield’ applications / service integrations, as we continuously launch new products for our Fox Business partners.

Building new components / component libraries / SDKs. Our code needs to be adaptable, so that we can support multiple businesses, multiple applications, and various downstream consumers of our content.

Keeping our codebase forward-focused and up to date, which could involve framework upgrades or supporting ever-changing API integrations.

In addition to being a hands-on technician, you will also lead the team in :

Project planning

Code review

Product design

Systems design and client architecture

Prototyping / Scaffolding work - you’ll lead new project setup and build prototype applications that quickly become apps we use in production.

Finally, you need to manage relationships with both internal and external development teams and stakeholders. Our code is open-sourced’ internally, and technicians from other teams will be contributing to and adapting our code for their business / feature-specific needs.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

You will need to be an expert in building scalable applications using React / NextJS or Vue / Nuxt. You are also a Typescript expert and can write Vanilla’ code for SDKs, Lambdas, and other service integrations.

You have experience with authentication layers, caching strategies, and architecture / system design.

Specifically, we are looking for :

Technical excellence in React / Vue / Angular

Technical management role experience

Experience managing direct reports

Experience managing distributed teams, including external staff and remote team members

Familiarity with standard tools like Github, Jira, and AWS

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

Experience in the media industry and / or work with Content Management Systems

Experience building your own component libraries, or using services like Material UI

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is : $121,500.

00-191,500.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical / dental / vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
