SUBJECT : COMPLIANCE SUPERVISOR POSITION
REPORTS TO : ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / DIRECTOR
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE :
The Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the compliance operations within the Worcester Public Schools Food & Nutrition organization to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards.
This role involves monitoring and evaluating compliance issues, providing guidance to staff, and supporting the development and implementation of compliance programs.
The Compliance Supervisor will play a key role in mitigating risk and ensuring compliance with K-12 USDA and DESE guidelines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Regulatory Compliance :
- Monitor and interpret relevant regulatory requirements and ensure the organization’s compliance with laws and regulations, particularly K-12 USDA and DESE guidelines.
- Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures that meet USDA regulations for K-12 programs.
- Stay updated on industry standards, USDA regulations, and best practices to ensure the organization’s compliance framework is robust.
2. USDA Guidelines for K-12 :
- Ensure compliance with USDA guidelines related to school nutrition programs, including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and other child nutrition programs.
- Oversee the implementation of meal pattern requirements, nutrient standards, and food safety protocols as mandated by the USDA.
- Monitor procurement processes to ensure compliance with USDA guidelines and regulations.
- Work closely with school nutrition staff to ensure proper documentation and reporting for USDA and DESE reimbursement.
3. Internal Audits and Assessments :
- Conduct regular internal audits (Acuclaims)and assessments to identify compliance risks and gaps, particularly in relation to USDA guidelines.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address identified compliance issues.
4. Training and Education :
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to enhance awareness and understanding of compliance requirements, with a focus on USDA guidelines.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on compliance-related matters.
5. Reporting and Documentation :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records and documentation, including those required by the USDA.
- Prepare compliance reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of compliance incidents.
6. Risk Management :
- Identify and assess compliance risks associated with the company’s operations, including those related to USDA guidelines.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate compliance risks.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of compliance controls.
7. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
1. Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
2. Servsafe Manager, CPR / Choke, and Food Allergy training must be maintained; certification and renewals will be provided by the Nutrition Department
3. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, Nutrition, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) preferred.
4. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
5. Strong knowledge of USDA guidelines for K-12 programs, regulatory requirements, and compliance best practices.
6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
7. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
9. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Working Conditions :
This position may require occasional travel to schools within the CIty of Worcester or to attend industry conferences and training sessions.
The role involves working in an office environment with standard working hours, though additional hours may be required during peak periods or for specific projects.
SALARY : Commensurate with experience
