Position Summary
Works under general supervision to perform minor maintenance tasks and to perform general warehouse receiving and disbursements to support the function of Shelby County Division of Corrections.
Pay Grade 41H
Minimum Qualifications
100% -
1.Two (2) years responsible work in receiving and stocking materials in a stockroom or warehouse setting and forklift certified; AND
2.High school diploma or possess GED.
3.PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND / OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Receives, stocks, and issues general warehouse and outside food warehouse supplies to authorized personnel.
2.Posts items from stock and maintain inventory on excel spreadsheets and quick books system.
3.Inspects goods for quantity and quality.
4.Supervises assigned inmate personnel.
5.Performs maintenance tasks such as unstopping toilets and sinks, changing light bulbs, resetting electrical breakers, and operating lawn equipment.
6.Assists maintenance personnel with electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance duties.
7.Trains and supervises inmates assigned to lawn care.
8.Utilizes various techniques to clean laundry.
9. Follows daily laundry schedule and follows-up on special order requests for timely submission and pick-up.
10.Responds with written and oral communications regarding laundry schedule and inventory inquiries.
11.Trains and supervises inmate work-lines for laundry operations.
12.Prioritizes services, when needed because of equipment failure and / or unusual events.
13.Maintains inventory of chemicals necessary to operate laundry equipment for proper operations.
14.Orders supplies such as janitorial and replacement inmate bedding to ensure continued laundry operations, as needed.
15.Picks up and drops off laundry at various units within Division.
16.Ensures cleanliness of the facility at all times.
17.Performs other duties as required or directed.

3.Ability to maintain a system of records according to prescribed criteria.

8. Computer knowledge with the ability to input and extract information.
9.Ability to communicate and maintain working relationship effectively with fellow employees and other departments.

11. Ability to operate boxed truck with Tommy Lift (no CDL required).
Physical Requirements
Must be able to climb a ladder and access roof tops.
Special Requirements
1.Must be able to function in a prison environment.
2.Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one as of employment date.
3.Must be able to work shift, evening, and on weekends, if required.
4.Must pass NCIC background check.
5.Must have a certification to operate a forklift.
6.Will be required to pass physical, drug and TB screens.
