Description
Part-time Public Safety Dispatcher, 3rd Shift
Time : 11pm- 7am
Responsibilities : The Public Safety Dispatcher assists with ensuring the security and safety of the campus and acts as the primary emergency, general information, and message relay contact for the campus community.
- Monitors emergency fire and intrusion alarms and all campus surveillance equipment. Provides general administrative support to the Department of Public Safety;
- contacts emergency responder agencies when needed; provides information to students, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner;
- and performs related work as assigned. Maintains parking permits, campus keys, and related systems. Coordinates all telephone and radio communications;
documents all notifications and information according to procedures.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Experience in law enforcement and corporate or campus security required.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and negotiate desired outcomes required.
- Three to five years of experience in dispatching preferred.
- Security experience, dispatcher experience, 911 operator experience helpful.
- Relevant security equipment / software training. Security alarm and camera experience.
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to multitask. Good organizational and follow through skills.
- Effective customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to enforce policies and use sound judgment for the safety and security of the campus. Ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
- Able to successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
- Note : This position is scheduled evening hours and some additional weekend hours will be required to participate in campus security functions and / or cover sick / vacation days for other dispatchers.
