generous portion paid by the Foundation Paid Holidays Paid Vacation Paid Sick Leave This position is both challenging and rewarding! This position provides leadership and oversight for the direction of staff that are involved in the daily living activities of students.

This unique experience includes interacting with clients and the students as well as, collaborating with the departmental Directors and staff on the development and implementation of clients’ learning plans aligned with Meristem’s missions and teaching philosophy.

Job Responsibilities : Direct Support Guide clients in a non-judgmental / empathic listening space to : Create their own program goals.

Develop steps needed to achieve goals. Define what clients need in order to learn, be successful, safe, and happy. Work with clients to create measurable goals and objectives towards those goals to be included in an ISP report.

Facilitate meetings with clients and others in clients’ circle of support at least once per year to create or update the ISP.

Update the Regional Center at least one additional time per year regarding client progress on goals, strengths, barriers, and / or changes in program delivery.

Plan regular meetings and periods of observation with 12-16 Community Day and / or Independent Living Skills clients to assess goals progress, determine what strategies or interventions are needed to support the client, and empower the client by facilitating discussions around exploring problem-solving strategies.

Provide client support during breaks or lunch as needed. Teach how to manage negative emotions, resolve conflict, & communicate in social settings.

Promote and teach self-advocacy, social / communication, emotional regulation, and self-reflection skills to our clients to encourage their independence.

Collaborate with staff to ensure clients are aware of schedule changes and guide clients in determining an appropriate schedule of courses which will support their goals.

Case Management Document / develop effective client strategies / processes to monitor client goals. Collaborate with the departmental Directors and staff on the development and implementation of clients’ learning plans aligned with Meristem’s missions and teaching philosophy.

Represent Meristem as a stakeholder in company meetings and as assigned for meetings with DDS and Regional Centers. Maintain positive and effective communication with client families, Regional Center Service Coordinators, and other stakeholders as needed.

Monitor program objectives to ensure compliance with program guidelines and adherence to state, local and federal requirements.

Communicate to staff and stakeholders about client updates regarding : client progress, emergent needs, opportunities for growth, and other relevant items in Community Day or Independent Living Skills program.

Provide additional communication as needed to support clients and payers through critical transition periods, such as returning from breaks or unforeseen circumstances.

Relevant information includes the client’s mood and ability to engage that day, ability to manage emotions, work with peers, or otherwise cope within their sessions.

Provide communication as client conflicts arise. If a client is having a conflict with another client or staff member, or is otherwise dysregulated, SCs may connect with the client’s next scheduled instructor to ensure a smooth transition.

Advise and communicate with Work Skills team regarding internships & work placement. Training / Supervision Direct the implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP’s) across all departments through direct observation and support of clients and instructors within the Community Day and Independent Living Skills sessions.

Provide mentorship for developing staff and be part of the interviewing process when bringing on new staff. Support and guide the work of staff members in their support to Meristem clients.

Review and coach instructors in note taking, auditing for data compliance, and quality assurance to ensure they are in alignment with clients’ goals and the reporting requirements of Meristem, Regional Center, and DDS.

As needed, communicate client updates to instructional staff and seek feedback. Meet with ILS instructors regularly to provide additional insights, communication, goal updates, or changes to instructional strategies and address any concerns / questions regarding those topics.

Reporting / Documentation Write Progress Reports and Monthly Updates for each client in caseload using data from instructor observational data, assessments, client meetings and observation periods, and collective staff input.

Prepare Pre-Enrollment client Visitation (PEV) profiles for instructors to review. Report findings of instructor and Student Coordinator observations of PEV students and present at Enrollment Meetings.

Make recommendations for client enrollment based on observations during PEV Visit, considering client ability, potential peer groupings, parental involvement, and the timeline of client’s possible enrollment.

Write Intake Assessments, ISPs and ISP reviews reflecting client’s goals and progress and submit to regional centers, the client, and payers.

Other Duties Attend daily, weekly, and monthly staff meetings and continuing education training. Respond appropriately in case of emergencies.

Comply with all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements : One year of experience working with people on the neurodiverse spectrum or in a related field.

Education and working knowledge of individuals with developmental disabilities. Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in relevant subject matter.

CPR, First Aid, and ProAct certified or willing to become certified upon hire. Experience in any of these areas is a plus : Experience with Regional Centers, Department of Rehabilitation, or Department of Developmental Services.
