Polyglass USA, Inc. , a premiere roofing materials manufacturer, has an opening for a Research and Development Technician II located at our Deerfield Beach, FL facility.
This position will be responsible for testing raw materials, compounds and finished product. The Technician will also be responsible for making and testing asphalt / polymer mixes, using equipment and understanding test methods and protocols while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
This position will report to the Research Scientist and involves close association with production, sales, purchasing, technical service codes and customer service.
Additional reporting to the Director of R&D.
What You Get To Do :
- Conduct material testing on compound, raw materials, finished product and prototypes. Examples of tests used to conduct the material testing include penetration, softening point, rolling ball tack, melt flow, low temperature flexibility, dimensional stability, tensile, peel, shear and tear testing.
- Examples of instruments used in this position include penetrometer, weatherometer, softening point apparatus, Instron, DSC, DSR, viscometer, high shear and low shear mixers, ovens and environmental chambers.
- Keep Laboratory Journal and accurately records test results on a computer in an approved format is essential for this position.
- Promote the quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures.
- Promote health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.

What We Look For :

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's of Science / Arts in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, or Colloid and Surface Science plus 2 years' experience working in asphalt, asphalt / polymer, coatings, waterproofing, roofing or related field;
OR High School diploma or GED with 5 or more years' experience working in asphalt, asphalt / polymer, coatings, waterproofing, roofing or related field required.
