Create complete design work suitable for production and jobsite completion.

Use architectural drawings, structural drawings, and specifications from architects to create the framing layouts and component drawings.

Communicate with both internal and external customers in ensuring all critical information is correctly incorporated in the component designs and layouts.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create wall panel, floor and roof truss layouts using engineering and design software (MiTek).

Operate computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment, conventional drafting station, or equivalent design software to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records.

Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on component designs made.

Confer with engineering, production, sales departments, and customers to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.

Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications, production limitations or building plan modifications.Direct and coordinate the fabrication of components and the drafting of working drawings and specification sheets.

Obtain and assemble data to complete component designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from structural engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.

Represent Millard Lumber on construction site, ensuring builder compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections.

Develop component documents for work orders.Interact with and advise sales staff on technical aspects of inquiries and consults with engineering staff when more in-depth analysis is required.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

Education / Experience High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.

Minimum of one (1) year in component design experience or equivalent preferredMiTek SAPPHIRE component software experience preferredCAD / Revit experience helpfulWood Construction and framing background is preferredExperience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel Other Requirements Must pass pre-employment drug screen Maintenance of regular attendanceMeet the specific credentials laid out for the Senior Component Designer Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of basic math and measurement skills.

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Can identify and qualify customer requirements for specific projects.Willing to obtain other training if deemed necessary in performance of responsibilities and continuing education Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Normal office conditions apply.

Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard.

Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist.

Will occasionally lift / push / pull up to 25 pounds.At times, jobsite or warehouse visits may be required, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust
