IT Senior Project Manager performs professional duties related to managing medium to large size information technology related projects.
Projects may be complex in nature and cross organizations. Leads and coaches other project managers and IT employees. Manages projects from analysis through delivery, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and scope of the project.
Works closely with business partners to collect and document requirements. Works with IT, business management and vendors to build a project team.
Builds and maintains project plan. Establishes communication plans and provides status updates throughout the project lifecycle.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide coaching in IT Project management fundamentals to less experienced project managers and IT employees.
2. Identify and lead IT related process improvements and deliver the improved processes to success.
3. Manage multiple related projects across multiple organizations. Work with other PMs on the related projects
4. Manage medium to large projects with moderate complexity, scope, and budget. Examples include :
A. Complexity : about 5 Vendor interfaces, about 10 systems required to be integrated, about 10 stakeholders
B. Scope : about 10 members on a project, about 10 organizations, about 5 vendors. Projects that are several months long.
C. Budget : about $50K to $5M per project
- 5. Serves as main client interface on assigned technology projects which are medium to large in size, and require limited sta and resources;
- reviews recommendations with clients and receives approval to proceed; coordinates project activities with vendors and internal technology sta;
- maintains eective communications with users regarding vendor activities, problems, status, timelines and other details; ensures compliance with County specications and drives resolution of project related issues;
monitors project budget and scope to ensure they remain within agreed upon parameters; reviews nal outcomes with clients to obtain sign o that all work has been conducted in accordance with client requirements.
6. Coordinate with stakeholders and IT managers to form committees and task forces. Lead regular meetings with the identified committees and task forces, drive and document committee's decisions.
7. Be liaison to our business partners, attend meetings, understand their business and their IT business related needs.
8. Hold working meeting with business partners to analyze project related business requirements and recommend technology solutions;
identify and map business processes; gather user requirements.
9. Work with stakeholders and Subject matter experts (SME) to design appropriate solutions. Work with Security team to ensure security is designed into solutions.
10. Work with IT and business management as well as vendors to build the project team.
11. Identify, plan, and monitor project scope, goals, needs, and budget.
12. Build and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
13. Effectively communicate project status throughout the project lifecycle
14. Maintain good documentation of the different phases of the PLC; i.e. requirements, decisions, changes, processes, transition plan, maintenance plan, and end-of-life, etc.
15. Work with stakeholders to define, communicate, and implement change management process for each project.
16. Deliver completed top-quality results and successful projects on scope, time, and budget.
17. Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, and two (2) years of work experience performing development and analysis in a comparable complex information systems environment.
Any equivalent combination related to education and / or experience totaling six (6) years may be considered for the above requirements.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following :
1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.
4. Employee must have a valid New Mexico driver's license by employment date and maintain a valid NM driver's license while employed in this position.
5. Occasional evening, holiday and / or weekend work may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment, but occasionally requires travel to other locations.
2. Work environments may include noise, dust and / or unpleasant odors, and may occasionally require work in confined spaces.
