Human Resources Generalist
Job Summary :
The Human Resources Generalist supports all associate functions with the utmost confidentiality, including payroll auditing, FMLA and Leave of Absence (LOA) oversight, and HRIS configurations.
This position partners with the Director of Human Resources in designing, developing, and launching key projects, to support company growth and expansion.

Core Functions : Payroll Auditing
Payroll Auditing
- Performs audits of weekly payrolls to ensure accurate adjustments and proper pay for all 1,000 associates.
- Confirms accuracy of payroll backup files on the payroll audit worksheet.
- Runs weekly reports to validate new hires, terminations, and pay history in the pay run.
- Runs pre-process payroll reports to validate against payroll audit sheet and backup data.
- Validates employee and employer benefit deductions for accuracy pertaining to changes in coverages or status.
- Confirms payroll totals on pre-process reports and funding status for all pay.
- Confirms the accuracy of the Headcount Report and Pre-Process Comparison Report that the Payroll Specialist completes.
- Assists the Payroll Specialist with escalated payroll issues to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing each week.
- Serves as backup for the Payroll Specialist.
FMLA and Leave of Absence (LOA) Administration
- Administers all LOAs in compliance with federal and state laws including but not limited to : FMLA, California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI), etc.
- Confirms accurate time records for all LOAs including but not limited to : Paid Sick Leave, Parental Leave, Short Term Disability, FMLA / State LOAs, etc.
- Responsible for vendor relationships with disability carriers and workers compensation providers.
- Processes LOA changes in HRIS including status changed, FMLA tracking, and benefit deduction information.
- Manages collection of benefit deductions in partnership with the Accounting department.
- Manages all communication between the associates and other parties relevant to the LOA.
- Maintains confidentiality and compliance with federal and state laws.
- Coordinates accommodation requests with relevant business partners.
- Processes Workers Compensation claims in partnership with providers and business partners concurrently with related LOA requests.
HR Information System (HRIS) Configurations
- Responsible for the integrity of data in the HRIS portal (Paylocity.)
- Interacts in weekly meetings with HRIS provider to effectively manage projects and issues.
- Leads HRIS configuration relevant to launching new modules or system upgrades.
- Partners with Director, HR on business needs within HRIS.
- Serves as backup for HR Administrator for Onboarding, Termination, and Recruiting needs.
Reporting & Recordkeeping
- Prepares monthly and annual reports for leadership including but not limited to : Hiring Trends, PTO Utilization, Total Compensation Data, etc.
- Process Recruiting and Worker’s Comp invoices monthly
- Responsible for accurate filing systems including :
- Associate records, HR files, HRIS records, LOA records, etc.
Other Duties
- Respond in a timely manner to internal and external correspondence via email and phone.
- Ad hoc reporting as required.
Education and Experience :
- College Degree or equivalent preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with HR Coordinator or Generalist duties, preferably relating to payroll and FMLA / LOA.
- Experience with large data sets in MS Excel required.
