This is a full-time ( - Status) day shift Medical Assistant position in the Community Physician Group Float Pool.
The Medical Assistant will work in the CPG Float Pool and the daily assignment could be across any one of the 17 Community Physician Group Clinics.
Major duty is to assist physicians and nurses with patients. This includes : greeting, escorting patients to exam rooms, taking vitals, height, weight, histories, updating medications, developing and maintaining patient education materials, preparing patient equipment and medication prescriptions for the Physician, phoning in prescription refills with Physician’s approval, charting, preparing informed consent forms for invasive procedures, calling physician orders to other health provider agencies ( home health, nursing home, therapists), securing x-ray films and preparing labs for the doctors, ordering clinical supplies, cleaning exam rooms, maintaining instruments, removing outdated medications, administering vaccinations.
Job will also entail occasionally filling in for patient access : checking in patients, answering phone, filing and pulling charts.
Minimum Required : High School diploma or equivalent and advanced training to completion in a medical assistant program.
One to two years experience in medical field & experience with Medical Terminology. BLS upon hire; Healthcare Provider BLS withing 3 months of hire.
Basic computer knowledge. Must become Registered or Certified Medical Assistant within 18 months.
Preferred / Desired : Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Recent experience and / or previous nursing practice experience.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS preferred. Nextgen experience is helpful.
