Deputy Project Manager

JOB SUMMARY :

Synagro operates an anaerobic digestion, centrifuge dewatering, thermal drum drying, and pelletization Facility at the City and County of Honolulu’s Sand Island WWTP.

The US $174 million Digestion Expansion Project will add two 2.35-million-gallon anaerobic digesters, two 0.54-million-gallon sludge storage tanks, a Digester Control Building, and other enhancements to the Facility.

The Project is scheduled to be completed in late 2028.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Provide a daily communications link as required to the Synagro Sand Island Facility Manager, to the Owner’s Construction Manager, to the Project Engineer, to the Project Construction Contractor, and to others as directed.
• Provide a daily report to the Project Manager of all activities on and about site.
• Monitoring and reviewing installed quality of all construction works.
• Monitoring and reviewing project schedule.
• Monitoring and reviewing monthly cost claims and the cost of changes including reviewing claimed remeasurement amounts.
• Maintain project records as per Synagro procedures.

COMPENTENCIES :

• Legally entitled to work in the United States and in the State of Hawaii.
• Holds a valid driver’s license and passport and can legally travel internationally if required.
• Holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• Has Ten (10) years or more of construction management experience within a construction contractor, engineering consultant and / or municipality, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with office level computers, and specifically with MICROSOFT Office, SharePoint, and OneDrive, ADOBE Acrobat, and REVU Bluebeam applications.
• Highly proficient with ORACLE Primavera P6 scheduling application for comparing construction contractor monthly schedules, for reviewing time impact analysis, and for generating high-level summary schedules.
• Proficiency in moving on a construction site, navigating rough, uneven ground, using ladders and access stairs (up to 120’ tall), communicating with operatives, and working within a sewage sludge processing facility.
• Proficiency in construction inspections for installation of mechanical, electrical, and SCADA instrumental systems or equivalent.
• Timeliness in all business matters and has a desire to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent.

Desired, but not required qualifications :

• Professional Engineer registered with the State of Hawaii Board of Professional Engineers, Architects, Surveyors & Landscape Architects, or equivalent.
• Holds a Project Management Professional designation and is registered and in good standing with the Project Management Institute, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in managing construction contractors and engineering consultants.
• Proficiency in managing bespoke construction, engineering, and operational contracts.
• Proficiency in operating within a wastewater and or resource recovery facility.
